Bloody Bastard

If you’re not keen on just tomato juice in a Bloody Mary then this may be a bit more palatable for you. Beetroot and horseradish has always been a decent marriage, one to quell even the worst of bloody hangovers!

 

Serves 4

 

Bastard mix

300ml beetroot juice

200ml tomato juice (Clamato if you can find)

2tsp freshly grated horseradish

juice of ½ lemon

Lea and Perrins

Tabasco

Ground black pepper

Celery salt

 

5 shots of god gin or vodka

Ice

Celery sticks

Olive and pickles

 

Simply bang everything into a big jug and begin seasoning to your own taste whilst stirring. I like its spicy and hot with the tabasco and horseradish however this is very much each to their own. It’s always a good idea to keep a jug of the bastard mix in the fridge and shake with ice in a cocktail shaker. Serve into a glass with celery salt around the rim, a stick of celery and maybe a few pickles and olives on a tooth pick to nibble at with a bag of frozen peas to the forehead...
